Founded by Joseph Assaf in 1988, The Ethnic Business Awards are a testimonial to Australia’s migrants who have encompassed Australia as their new home, recognising the diversity, ingenuity and success with Australia’s business community. Representing an assortment of cultural backgrounds, the Ethnic Business Awards are the only initiative of its kind to recognise migrant contribution.

As one of Australia’s longest running business awards shown on Australian television, 2010 celebrates the inclusion of “Indigenous in Business Award”. This marks the contribution of Indigenous in the process of reconciliation and advancement.

The Ethnic Business Awards are comprised of three (3) categories:

Small Business Category:
• Businesses with a turnover less than or equal to $5 million per annum.

Medium to Large Business Category:
• Businesses with an annual sales turnover greater than $5 million per annum.

2010 marks the first year for the “Indigenous in Business Award”
• Aiding in the process of Indigenous reconciliation and advancement

The Ethnic Business Awards were designed to recognise and reward the valuable and innovative contributions migrants and the Indigenous have made to Australian business and the economy. In a country where 25% of the population were born overseas, where over 200 languages are spoken, more than 200 ancestries identified, and 125 different religions are practiced, Australia’s cultural diversity is a reality which will continue.
